It’s always nice when you find you’ve hit onto a trend without even realising it. A year ago when we were putting together the SS12 collection really trends didn’t feature in the thinking and it’s hard to remember now where the white theme came from, but it did. And so the SS12 collection from Christopher Waller was born and was predominantly white, and now we are seeing all over the press that white is the trend for SS12. Although not claiming to be a trend setting brand, it’s nice to know that we’re ahead of the curve in some ways! I’ve attached some images of our current SS12 collection, along with some other catwalk images from Preen and The Row which capture the white trend nicely (and a little bit of press!). we’ve finally started cutting the fabric for our AW12 production, which feels a little funny when we’re still selling SS12 stock in the shops AND developing SS13 styles for next year - but that’s the fashion business I suppose! So, in amongst burglaries, a stolen Mac, and having to update social media on an ailing and borrowed laptop (thank you Peter!), we thought we’d share these pictures of the AW12 lace while it’s laid out on the cutting table as it looked really beautiful today. It’s going to go into this dress and leather T and is a really awesome fabric coming from Thailand, via Japan and Hong Kong as far as I can trace it! these will be the first styles put into production this Friday, then we’ll be doing the printed pieces, for which the silk is being printed as I type this post…..
Here are a few pics of the development of the SS13 collection so far. At the moment we’ve got most of the pieces down, with a few key ones still to do. The fabrics are going to be a mix of jersey, silk and linens in blues and creams. As usual it’s keeping things minimal but sexy, but we think we’ve got some great fabric interest this season following on from the amazing fabrics we used in AW12! Keep watching this space for further news…..
Can’t wait for the summer now, Peckham really comes alive with the sun and there are so many great pubs and bars around with beer gardens. These two being among them. These shots are great…
This stunning video by designer Christopher Waller really echoes the energy of his collection available at Silkfred
We are currently furiously grading AW12 patterns ready for the factory. This season we’ve decided to grade the patterns by hand to save a bit of money, which is really time consuming. Sometimes I still can’t believe that this collection of bits of paper can end up as the garment in the photo, madness!
While grading patterns, the humble Pritt Stick has become my best friend…..

We’re very excited to announce that Christopher Waller, one of our favorite UK brands, is now on BFB! Here’s our interview with Simon - Simon Christopher Waller, to be exact - who talks about his love for silk, achieving the right fit, and his no frills no bows approach to fashion.

Sketchbook Blog: Wolf and Badger's Flagship Sets Sail
Wolf and Badger are firmly on our radar here at Sketchbook; from their opening in February 2010, to their residential stint in the Wonder Room at Selfridges and 2011’s Spring Fete.
Fast forward almost a year and these furry critters continue to go from strength to strength as Wednesday evening…
Went to the opening party of the new Wolf and Badger store on Dover Street last night, where they are stocking our SS12 collection and where they will be stocking our AW12 collection once it’s ready. What an amazing space, it takes up two floors of a Georgian style terrace building and the architects have left exposed brickwork everywhere with loads of recessed lighting to create a surprisingly large and interesting series of rooms.
Downstairs, there was a gallery with some paintings of some of the garments on sale on the ground floor. The artist, Andy Bumpus even picked one of my designs, the SS12 Portofino dress, to create a flick book style image which was then projected as a moving image onto the back wall. Amazing, here are some pics….
